About Us.
What is Model United Nations (MUN)?
Model UN is an extracurricular activity in which students represent delegates in the United Nations and simulate debates in UN committees. This activity takes places in conferences in which delegates research topics beforehand and represent a certain nation in arguing their position and expressing it through works called resolution papers. Conferences are broken up into different sections that range from formal public speaking to informal conversations with fellow delegates. |

Austin High Model UN
With one of the largest and most successful high school delegations in Texas, the Model UN program at Austin High has taken off in advancing the program despite driven competition and limited experience. This last year, Austin High hosted its fourth annual Model UN conference that welcomed more 10 high school delegations from around Texas. Being successful in enacting powerful conversation and creating a fun experience, the Austin High Model UN team plans to continue holding our annual event with the goal of not only keeping up this reputation but expanding the program to make experiences even more enjoyable. As well as this conference for more experienced delegates, Austin High also holds a smaller scaled conference for all freshmen who have no experience in the program. This one day conference has taken place for 6 years and grown immensely to include all freshmen in the past 2 years and has been very successful in teaching new students the complexities of global issues as well as recruiting new members to the Model UN program. |
