What is Model United Nations (MUN)?
In Model United Nations (MUN), students learn about diplomacy and international relations among other things. Students learn about current and past events, and participate in a simulation where they act as a delegate from a certain country and present their views on the chosen topic. MUN is offered at schools as an elective class or club.
How long does it last?
The camp is 4 days long from June 20th - 23rd. From 8:30 - 12:30pm.
How much does it cost?
$200. This includes a t-shirt and a snack every day. Payment is due by May 16th, one week after registration closes.

What are the topics?

How do you choose the topics?
When registering you can include your child's debate preferences. This will allow campers to debate a topic they are comfortable with and excited about! Once registration closes our staff will select a topic which you will be able to see on the website.
Will there be snacks?
Yes. We will do our best to accommodate campers with allergies. Campers may also bring their own snacks, if needed because of dietary restrictions.
What is a conference?
A conference is a day (+) event where, delegates from other schools come together to participate in simulations. Our conference will be held within assigned classrooms.
What is a simulation?
A simulation is the debate of the topic. Where delegates speak as a representative from somewhere and speak as them on the chosen topic.
What is a background paper?
A background paper contains information on the topic of the committee. It includes the background of the topic and important information that will be needed for delegates to be ready for simulation.
What is a position paper?
A position paper is a paper that delegates write before participating in a simulation or conference. An average paper is 3 paragraphs. With the topic of each being 1) History of the topic 2) How does it effect your delegation & past solutions 3) Possible solutions. Students will learn how to write a position paper during the camp.
What do campers need to bring?
Campers should bring a personal or school issued computer*, snacks, and water.
*For AISD students only: Chromebooks will be available to campers who do not have a computer to bring.
